From Terrified to Brave

Meet Bolt

A 13-month old mixed breed

Bolt had a rough start in life. He was found living in an abandoned parking lot with other dogs.

His dog mom, Deanie, took him in. Despite being a mom to a toddler, and starting a new career, she was committed to helping Bolt.

When she tried to walk him, he was true to his name and would bolt back inside. He was terrified to be on leash and generally fearful. Bolt was very reactive to people and dogs at very large distances.

Jocelyn helped Deanie train in a way that wouldn't overwhelm him. They started building his confidence and gradually adding new challenges for Bolt.

In 6 weeks, he was able to go from frenetic and scanning on leash to enjoying being outside. He went from being on alert to triggers very far off, to seeing them within 20 feet and not reacting.

This is tremendous progress for a dog like Bolt.
Our virtual format was especially helpful for a generally anxious guy like him.

A trainer's presence would negatively impact his learning experience. Deanie was able to get the help she needed in the best way for Bolt.

"Because of their patience, knowledge, and guidance, my dog is now becoming more comfortable around other humans and animals, and he actually enjoys being outside, something I never thought would be possible. I feel more confident as an owner, too, because they not only trained my dog, they taught me how to understand and support him."
Deanie, Bolt's dog mom

Bolt was a brave guy that grew in confidence. Deanie learned the skills to show him he could be safe in the world on leash and to keep making progress.
